Cyngor Sir Ynys Môn - Isle of Anglesey County Council

Handyperson support scheme

The Handyperson Scheme is a support function for the Housing Department to support our council tenants.

You are eligible to use this support scheme if you are:

  • over the age of 70
  • living within a sheltered housing scheme
  • registered disabled (getting higher rate care, mobility disability living allowance or enhanced personal independence payments)

What can the handyperson help with?

Any work that doesn’t take more than the hours applied. Some examples may include:

  • hang curtain poles
  • hang pictures
  • fitting a toilet seat
  • disassemble and assemble furniture
  • fit shelving
  • small painting jobs

You can book an appointment for the ‘Handyperson Support Scheme’ in the same way you report a housing repair:

  • 0808 168 5652
  • repairs@anglesey.gov.wales

We will discuss this with you in more detail when you book your Handyperson appointment.

The council will provide labour only.

However, as a rule, our handyperson staff will carry consumables such as screws, nails, wall plugs, sealant and so on.

They will also carry the necessary tools for the job.

It is up to you to provide materials, such as shelving, cabinets, toilet seat, curtain rails, paint and so on.

This is a free support scheme for eligible council tenants.

You can either use this support scheme service once a year for a duration of 4 hours or twice year for a duration of 2 hours.

Your handyperson appointment will be carried out by one of our qualified repairs and maintenance operatives.

You will be able to identify our staff through their uniform, vehicles and identification badges all of which carry the council logo.

If you are in doubt, please ask to see their identification card or call 08081685652 for confirmation to put your mind at ease.

Do not allow anyone who you are suspicious of to enter your home.
