The Isle of Anglesey County Council will be offering the chance for individuals and couples over the age of 60 to apply for social housing at the newly refurbished Llawr y Dref flats in Llangefni.
The scheme, which has enabled the council’s Housing Services to fully refurbish the 29 flats, has benefited from significant financial investment, and the flats have been transformed to provide comfortable, modern living accommodation.
Anglesey Council’s Housing portfolio Holder, Councillor Alun Mummery said, “These are exciting times for the Service as we’re currently aiming to increase and improve our housing stock as part of our ambitious 30 year plan.”
“The scheme’s main aim is to help the residents of Anglesey, and I’d like to thank the service’s staff and our partners for their hard work so far in helping us to achieve this goal.”
Head of Housing Services, Ned Michael added, “Anglesey County Council is one of 11 Welsh authorities which still retain their housing stock and we recognise the need for affordable housing for rent.”
“The Llawr y Dref flats have recently undergone a full refurbishment, and tenants will benefit from a variety of provisions which include, gas central heating, patio doors opening onto maintenance free communal gardens, juliet balconies for first floor flats, and a lift to the 1st floor.”
“This refurbishment has also allowed us to ensure that the building is now fully wheelchair accessible and offers scooter access & storage. Communal facilities are now also included in the package which includes gardens, an onsite launderette and a lounge area for socialising.”
Housing Services have arranged an information day for prospective tenants to come and view the complex, where you will be given the opportunity to meet the team and view the properties. The information day will be held on the 19th of May from 10am to 2pm.
