AONB photo competition


To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the first geology map of Anglesey we are holding a geology photo competition.

To enter, please send your picture to AONB@anglesey.gov.uk

The geology map shows that Anglesey contains perhaps the greatest variety of geology of any comparable area in the British Isles. This year marks the 100th anniversary since Edward Greenly published the map.

The winner will be awarded the opportunity to attend a Geo-Kayaking course at a location on the island as well as having their picture included in the 2020 Wales Protected Landscapes calender. 

The photos must be submitted by 20 September, 2019.

  1.  There is no entry fee for this competition.
  2. Multiple entries from the same person will be considered, with a maximum of three entries per person.
  3. By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
  4. No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.
  5. The rules of the competition and how to enter are as follows:To enter the competition you must take a picture that demonstrates the varied geology across Anglesey.
  6. Within the email you should include your name and location of the picture.
  7. The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by the promoter.

  9. Closing date for entry will be extended to the 25th After this date no further entries to the competition will be permitted.
  10. By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
  11. Due to the nature of the calendar, the image must be landscape.
  12. For quality purposes, the picture must contain a minimum of 4 megapixels.
  13. The prize is as follows: The winner will be awarded the opportunity to attend a Geo-Kayaking course at a location on the island as well as having their picture included in the 2020 Wales Protected Landscapes calendar.
  14. The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. The prizes are not transferable.
  15. Winners will be chosen by the Anglesey’s AONB and Countryside Team and the decision will be final.
  16. The winner will be notified by email on the 27th September and will be announced on the 28th during the Woodland Festival. If the winner cannot be contacted or do not claim the prize within 14 days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.
  17. The winner agrees to the use of his/her name and image in any publicity material, as well as their entry. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current [UK] data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.
  18. Any personal information and contact details you supply will be used only for the purposes of administering the competition.
  19. Employees of the Isle of Anglesey County Council’s Destination Team are exempt from the competition.
