What we need from you

  • We need people with the right skills and qualities to be able to give vulnerable children the best possible care
  • It doesn’t matter if you’re married or single, straight or gay, own your home or rent, work full-time or are unemployed
  • You do need to be over 21
  • You need to be fit enough to care for a child
  • You need a spare room in your home
  • Have no convictions for crimes against children
  • You’ll also need the commitment, patience and realistic attitude to take on this challenging role
  • You’ll need to be responsible, flexible and friendly
  • You’ll need to be able to provide a stable and supportive environment so the child in your care feels happy and safe
  • Some child care experience is helpful whether that’s working with children or bringing up your own
  • You’ll need to have the time to give a child the support they need, help them keep in contact with their families if appropriate, and to attend training when required
