UK Community Renewal Fund (CRF)

The UK Government’s Community Renewal Fund is providing £220million of mainly revenue funding investment during the 2021 to 2022 financial year to support people and communities most in need across the UK, creating opportunities to trial new approaches and innovative ideas, at the local level, in respect of

  • investment in skills
  • investment for local business
  • investment in communities and place
  • supporting people into employment

Anglesey is one of 100 areas in the UK that will be eligible to apply for this fund.

Isle of Anglesey County Council has been designated as a ‘Lead Authority’ to

  • invite project proposals from a range of local applicants, including the voluntary and community sector, organisations and local education providers including universities
  • appraise these projects and produce a shortlist of projects, up to a maximum value of £3 million per place, for submission to UK Government 

The MP and AM for Anglesey will be consulted as part of the assessment process.

Isle of Anglesey County Council must submit a summary of shortlisted bids, along with their associated application forms, to UK Government. From 18 June 2021 throughout July 2021, the UK Government will undertake its own assessments and announce successful projects from late July 2021 onwards.

Key points from the guidance

Emphasis is placed upon projects that can deliver immediate significant outcomes and impacts.

Larger projects are being encouraged (financial value of £500,000+) to maximise impact and deliverability.

Bids cannot be submitted for projects that benefit a single entity (for example a single business) -there must be evidence of wider impact for multiple individuals, businesses or other organisations.

If successful, the project must be ready to mobilise and deliver over a short timeframe (between August 2021 and January 2022).

Activity must be complete with funds claimed and payments made by 31 March, 2022.

Expressions of interest (EOI)

Isle of Anglesey County Council is inviting initial expressions of interest (EOI), from eligible organisations wishing to be considered as applicants or beneficiaries of the fund.

If successful at EOI stage, applicants must have the information necessary to complete the full and detailed application quickly and efficiently.

Important dates 

The deadline for submission of the EOI to Isle of Anglesey County Council is 4pm on Friday, 30 April 2021An EOI must be submitted prior to this deadline is order to be considered for the full application. 

Isle of Anglesey County Council will inform applicants and invite full detailed applications during the week commencing Monday, 10 May 2021. 

The deadline for subsequent submission of the full applications to Isle of Anglesey County Council will be 4pm Friday, 28 May 2021. 

Isle of Anglesey County Council is obliged to assess and notify the UK Government of shortlisted projects by 18 June 2021. 

The UK Government has undertaken to notify successful applicants during July 2021.
