Key worker accommodation

The Welsh Government announced on 19 December, 2020 that lockdown restrictions will come in to force from 20 December, 2020.

All hospitality and accommodation will be required to close until further notice.

We understand that some accommodation providers will need to provide accommodation for critical (key) workers.

As in the previous lockdown, should you wish to accommodate critical (key) workers you will be required to apply for an exemption certificate for each worker who wishes to stay during the period of lockdown.

To apply for an exemption certificate, an application for each key worker must be completed fully with a copy of their ID and letter from their employer with their details on the letter (matching the ID) stating why they will be staying, the dates of their arrival and departure,  and the room number(s) that they will be occupying.

Applications should be made at least 2 working days in advance and all supporting documents such as the letter and copy of ID should be supplied with the application or it will be refused.

We require these documents uploaded with the request form at the time of their booking, not on their arrival.

Should you need to confirm what type of key worker you have staying and how they qualify, a list of key workers can be found here:

Please note that checks are carried out by Enforcement Officers to ensure that all accommodation provided to key workers are registered for an exemption certificate.

Any breaches of the above legislation is taken very seriously by the authority and enforcement action would be considered in light of any breaches.
