Accommodation requests during lockdown (including key workers)

The Welsh Government announced on 19 December, 2020 that lockdown restrictions will come in to force from 20 December, 2020.

All hospitality and accommodation will be required to close until further notice.

We understand that some travel/holiday accommodation providers will need to provide accommodation for critical (key) workers and individuals that fall within the Welsh Government’s exemption categories.

As in the previous lockdown, should you wish to accommodate such individuals you will be required to apply for an exemption certificate for each individual who wishes to stay during the period of lockdown.

To apply for an exemption certificate, an application must be completed together with relevant supporting information/evidence. Please check the minimum level of supporting information/evidence we will require to accompany specific applications.

Applications should be made at least 2 working days in advance and all supporting documents such as the letter and copy of ID should be supplied with the application or it will be refused.

We are able to respond to your enquiry during office opening hours, which are 8.45am - 5pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).

Any application received after 5pm will not be processed until the next working day.

We require these documents uploaded with the request form at the time of their booking, not on their arrival.

Should you need to confirm what type of key worker you have staying and how they qualify, a list of key workers can be found here:

Please note that checks are carried out by Enforcement Officers to ensure that all accommodation provided to key workers are registered for an exemption certificate.

Any breaches of the above legislation is taken very seriously by the Authority and enforcement action will be considered in light of any breaches.
