Dog restrictions on Anglesey's beaches

Dogs are currently banned from areas at seven of Anglesey’s beaches.

Signs are located at all the beaches with maps indicating the ban area and at each location it is still possible for dogs and their owners to enjoy the beach.

At which beaches do dog restrictions apply?

  • Beaumaris
  • Benllech
  • Cemaes Bay
  • Llanddwyn, Newborough
  • Llanddona
  • Porth Dafarch
  • Trearddur Bay

What about walking my dog on the promenade?

At Benllech, Cemaes Bay and Trearddur Bay dogs must be kept on their leads on the promenades.

When do these restrictions apply?

These restrictions apply 1st May to 30th September each year.

Are there any other restrictions on dogs on beaches?

The Isle of Anglesey (Dogs Fouling of Land ) Order 1997 makes it an offence for dog owners not to clean up after their dog in designated areas, which includes beaches.

If you fail to clean up after your dog you may be liable to a fixed penalty fine of £75 or prosecution in court, which could result in a fine of up to £1000.

For further information, contact our dog warden.
