Anglesey Archives Achieves National Accreditation

Anglesey Archives has been awarded Archive Service Accreditation.

archives accreditation

Accredited Archive Services ensure the long-term collection, preservation and accessibility of our archive heritage. Accreditation is the UK quality standard which recognises good performance in all areas of archive service delivery. Achieving accredited status demonstrates that Anglesey Archives has met clearly defined national standards relating to management and resourcing; the care of its unique collections and what the service offers to its entire range of users.

The Archive Service Accreditation assessors “congratulated the service on its work and commented on how well the service is managed, operating within its limited resource to deliver a great deal. They also noted the advantages in extending outreach through connection with Oriel Ynys Môn and the overall positive approach to partnerships, which would bring the value of the archive collections to wider audiences.”

Anglesey Archives is the local authority archive service for the Island of Anglesey. Its mission is to identify, collect and preserve historical documents relating to the island and make them available to anyone who wishes to use them.

Delyth Molyneux, Head of Learning said “This award marks the culmination of a transformation process that began over 5 years ago and is a clear demonstration that Anglesey Archives has a track record of achievement in all areas of archive service delivery. I congratulate all of the staff at the archives who work so hard to provide an excellent service.”

Hayden Burns, Senior Archivist said “The award of archives accreditation is once again a tribute to hard work and commitment shown by our staff and volunteers in looking after our wonderful collections and making them available for research and public enjoyment. We look forward to building on this success in the future”.
