The Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014
The Act received Royal Assent and became law on 1 May 2014. It now provides the legal framework for improving the well-being of people who need care and support, and carers who need support, and for transforming social services in Wales. The Act will transform the way social services are delivered, promoting people’s independence to give them stronger voice and control. The Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act became operational in April 2016.
Training on the Act
Local and regional training will continue to raise awareness of the principles of the Act and to ensure that employees understand how the Act will affect their work. Any training opportunities will be advertised in the usual manner on the Workforce Development Unit Training Events webpage.
Information and Learning Hub
The Care Council has developed an Information and Learning Hub, which has been designed to be your one-stop-shop for resources relating to the Act. Over time, the Hub will include training materials in different formats to help social care professionals implement the legislation in their day-to-day work.
The Hub will be updated constantly, with new information and learning materials being added. So, please check regularly to see what’s new.
