M.A. Social Work (2 Year Course)

Bangor University have a professional Social Work M.A. programme, which is supported by Gwynedd, Ynys Môn and Conwy local authorities.

Although the authorities cannot offer financial support they can offer and provide 200 days practice placements as part of the programme.

The intention is to encourage and promote Welsh speakers to apply for a place on this local M.A. course.

This M.A. qualification can enable graduates to apply for positions within the professionally qualified social work workforce.

Entry requirements

  • a single or joint honours degree at 2(i) classification or above, together with at least 6 months experience of social care. Applications from individuals with a 2(ii) degree classification who can demonstrate a strong relevant experience of at least 6 months in social care will be considered
  • the ability to communicate orally and written through the medium of Welsh is essential
  • GCSE grade C or equivalent in Maths and English/Welsh first language
