Council Services:

Vacancies with Children and Families Services

Message from the director of social services and Assistant Chief Executive

Dear Candidate

On behalf of Children and Families’ Services, I thank you for your interest in these opportunities with our Council, and extend a warm welcome to our recruitment micro-site within which we hope you will find all the information you need.

Great opportunities exist in Anglesey, with many different types of industry thriving here and our plans for economic development and investment aim to provide new and improved opportunities for business and jobs. We are proud of our beautiful island and all it has to offer to those who live, work and visit here. But there are those that need our help and support, and our Children and Families’ Service is committed to ensuring that there is information, guidance and support available and accessible to children and families, and that our strategies and processes for safeguarding, prevention and intervention are effective and integrated with partner agencies.

We have had, and continue to have, some challenges within the Authority. During times of austerity, limited resources and increased demands, we also faced legislative challenges with the introduction of the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act. We have put some additional investment, focus and attention into children’s services and started an improvement journey, and this now needs to be accelerated for it to become embedded and be sustainable into the future. At the end of last year we were inspected by the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales, and whilst this identified some positives, particularly in the form of commitment from the Council and its staff, it also confirmed that we need to do much more. Our restructuring of children and families services will enable us to amend the design and delivery of our service model This is why we now seek individuals of high calibre to join us on our improvement journey.

If you require further information or wish to have a confidential and informal discussion about any of the vacancies please contact Fon Roberts, Head of Children and Families Services - 01248 750057
