Does my property need a house in multiple occupation (HMO) licence?
Only certain types of HMOs need to be licensed and these are:
HMOs consisting of three or more storeys, which:
- are occupied by five or more people forming two or more households
- have an element of shared facilities eg kitchen, bathroom etc (self contained flats will be exempt.)
Those landlords that have already registered their properties with the council under the Isle of Anglesey County Council (Registration of Houses in Multiple Occupation) Control Scheme 2002 will have their properties “passported” over into the new licensing scheme.
