To maintain standards throughout a range of accommodation, the council is committed to working with private landlords, agencies, and the community towards a safe, fair and healthy environment.

Housing Act 2004
The Housing Act 2004 came into effect on 30 June 2006 in Wales. It introduced major changes relating to the licensing and definition of houses in multiple occupation (HMOs), and for assessing property conditions for all privately rented properties.
Houses in multiple occupation
A house in multiple occupation is a building occupied by more than one household, who share (or lack) kitchen/bathroom/toilet facilities, that is not self-contained. A household is a family, ie people who are blood relatives, or are living together as man and wife (including same sex couples).
Housing Health and Safety Rating System
Landlords who let residential accommodation are responsible for ensuring that it is maintained in good repair.
Landlords' forum
The Isle of Anglesey County Council’s Environmental Health Section has held annual forums since 2007 to help keep private sector landlords, agents and professionals up-to-date on issues.
Fire safety risk assessment
Every landlord has a legal requirement to carry out a fire safety risk assessment in accordance to the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 procedures on their property.
