Welsh Housing Quality Standard Investment Programme
As part of our commitment to ensure that properties managed by Isle of Anglesey County Council reach the Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS) by 2012 we have entered into a partnering arrangement with G Purchase Construction Limited and the Building Maintenance Unit (BMU) to complete a programme of internal improvements on our behalf.
Work being carried out under the WHQS Internal Improvement Programme will comprise of the following:
- kitchen refurbishment
- bathroom refurbishment
- electrical rewire
Not all homes will receive all of the improvements and some homes will not need any work carrying out. We will advise you if your home will receive any of these improvements well in advance of the work taking place.
When the scheme moves into your area, you will be invited to an open day to discuss the improvements and show samples of the units and fixtures we will be providing.
Following this you will be contacted by G Purchase Construction Limited or the Direct Services Organisation to organise an appointment to visit you in your home, inspect your property, explain the works proposed and agree a number of choice options with you, where applicable. All visitors will have identification cards.
Given the nature of the potential works we have estimated that a property requiring all of the aforementioned improvements may take up to fifteen working days to complete.
Works of this nature will cause some disturbance and disruption; however, every effort will be made to keep this to a minimum. I wish to assure you that our partners have been chosen because they have a proven track record in delivering works of this nature whilst customers remain in occupation.
If you have any queries regarding the improvement works, please contact the Tenant Participation Liaison team on 01248 752171 or 01248 752166.
