Advice for children and young people
Are you a child or young person in the Anglesey area who is being abused either at home or by someone outside your home? Is someone at home being ill-treated by someone else? Or do you have a friend who needs help because they are being abused?
If so, you can get help in any of these ways:
Ring the duty social worker on (01248) 752733 or 752 722 during the day Monday to Friday, or (01248) 353551 at night and weekends, and tell them what is happening. Or you can email them at: csdss@anglesey.gov.uk
In an emergency - such as when someone is being hit or shut out of their home - ring the police on 999
Or you can ring Childline on 0800 1111 or go to the Childline website (see the ‘websites’ tab above).
If you don’t want to talk to someone you don’t know, you can ask an adult that you trust, like a teacher or youth worker or even a friend, to make the phone call for you. When people are working with children and young people they have to follow set procedures, but they will explain to you what they will do and should be able to support you through the process.
If you are being bullied or you’re worried about anything that’s happening or could happen to you when you go on the internet, there are some helpful websites that you may want to have a look at. We’ve listed these above under the ‘websites’ tab.
It’s often very difficult to talk about abuse - but if you don’t tell anyone they can’t help you stop it.
The Gwynedd and Anglesey Local Safeguarding Children Board booklet with help and advice for children and young people is available above via the ‘downloads’ tab.
Please note: Due to the nature of some of these documents they are not completely accessible and some cannot be read by ‘screen reader’.
