About us - The Gwynedd and Anglesey Local Safeguarding Children Board
The Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) came into being on the 1st October 2006 as a requirement under the Children Act 2004, and replaces the Area Child Protection Committee which has been in place since 1996. It is the statutory body responsible for protecting children and young people from significant harm and for promoting their welfare.
The board members are senior managers of local agencies who have a part to play in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. They have a responsibility to ensure that all agencies collaborate to provide the highest standard of service to children in Gwynedd and Anglesey, in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, and to strive to achieve for every child the seven core aims set out by the Welsh Assembly Government - for details, please follow the weblink via the ‘websites’ tab above.
The LSCB works through a structure of sub groups which ensure that local issues are addressed on a multi-agency basis, systems are continually audited in response to local need and lessons learnt and that staff from all agencies have access to relevant training.
For further information about the board, such as its constitution, membership etc please see the attachments via the ‘downloads’ tab above, or contact the LSCB Business Manager (01286 679 926).
