The Handyperson Scheme is a service provided by the Isle of Anglesey County Council and Gofal a Thrwsio Môn for people over 70 years and / or people with disabilities to receive minor housing repairs and to ensure their home safety.
Who is eligible?
People aged 70 and / or people with disabilities:
- who are home owners or tenants (either in the public or private sector)
- who have no family, or other person that could complete or arrange the work on their behalf
- who’s ability to live independently and safely within their own home would be at risk without the completion of the work
How can we help?
A wide variety of small repairs and maintenance jobs can be carried out under the Handyperson scheme eg
- door easing / realigning
- window repairs, replacing glass
- cleaning gutters
- repairs gates, fences
- general joinery
- basic plumbing eg repairs to leaking taps
- basic electrical work eg rewiring plugs, replacing light bulbs
- security work ie fitting or replacing locks and security equipment
The Handyperson Scheme will not include work normally undertaken by a skilled person.
How much will it cost?
The cost of the materials used and a £20 flat rate payment. The work undertaken within the scheme is restricted to small jobs and is not a service offered by the landlord, Isle of Anglesey County Council or the Gofal a Thrwsio Môn Rapid Response Adaptations Programme.
