Welcome to Health Challenge Anglesey

A few simple steps can set you on the road to better health and remember, healthy living can be both fun and sociable. These web pages provide practical examples of how you can meet the challenge.

What is Health Challenge Anglesey?

Health Challenge Anglesey encourages everyone on the island - individuals, businesses, the media and other organisations to live healthier, more fulfilling and active lives.

The initiative has six key themes:

  • smoking
  • food and fitness
  • accidents and injuries
  • alcohol and other substance misuse
  • infections
  • mental health and wellbeing

In this section we provide practical examples of how you can meet the challenge yourselves! Follow the links in the left hand navigation for details on avoiding accidents and injuries, quitting smoking, healthy eating and getting fit, sensible drinking, drug misuse and more.

  • Sportlot Community Chest Grant

    This is a Sports Council for Wales National lottery funded grant aid scheme which is administered by the Isle of Anglesey County Council. It is designed to encourage more people to become more physically active more often. The maximum grant is £1000 in any 12 month period.

    Welcome to our sport and leisure pages. In this section you'll find information on a wide variety of leisure facilities and opportunities that are available on the island, including the council's leisure centres and swimming pools.

  • Make sure you're not sleeping with a killer

    Residents are being urged to 'Keep well, warm and safe this winter', with free electric blanket testing on offer at two forthcoming Home Safety Fairs on the Island.

  • Anglesey Life 2007

    ‘Anglesey Life 2007’ follows on from the first needs assessment document ‘Anglesey Life’ (2004) by providing a current picture of quality of life on the island.
