School - clothing grants and vouchers
The LA operates a scheme which provides a grant towards the cost of purchasing clothing and footwear for Secondary School pupils of compulsory school age.
The grant is limited to parents of pupils who are in receipt of Income Support or Job Seekers’ Allowance (income based) payments from the DSS, Guarantee Element of State Pension Credit or Child Tax Credit (only) when the income is less than £16,190 p.a. Applications can also be considered from widowed parents.
The grant is not payable to families who are in receipt of Working Tax Credit.
The grant, in the form of vouchers, are valued at present at £105.00 for year 7 pupils and £40 for pupils in years 8 to 11 and may be payable in respect of more than one child. Consideration may be given in exceptional circumstances to applications from parents of primary school pupils in where there are special needs.
