See designs for new Holyhead primary school

Anglesey’s Executive approved plans to build a brand new primary school in the town back in November 2014.

This will see the merger of Ysgol Y Parchedig Thomas Ellis, Ysgol Llaingoch and Ysgol Y Parc. A brand new school will be built on the former Ysgol Cybi school site for around 540 pupils and 75 nursery pupils.

Isle of Anglesey County Council recently secured a £16.7m grant from Welsh Government, a sum it will match-fund, to ensure major investment in school infrastructure over the next five years as part of an ambitious modernisation programme.

Funding has, in principle, already been secured for the new Holyhead primary school with the Welsh Government willing to contribute a maximum of 50% of the cost.

Improving education and skills, and modernising the Island’s schools is one of the Council’s main priorities.

Sketches for the new Holyhead primary school have been designed by Lovelock Mitchell Architects, who have been appointed by Wynne Construction. The design has been developed in consultation with Officers from Isle of Anglesey County Council. These maybe amended following the consultations that took place between 3rd and 4th March, 2015.
