Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs)

Within these pages you will find more information about one of the most important landscapes in Wales and the UK.

You will also find information on how we can work together to protect and enhance Anglesey’s landscape.

Some of the main features of the Anglesey AONB are:

  • low cliffs alternating with coves and pebble beaches
  • sheer limestone cliffs interspersed with fine sandy beaches
  • stretches of sand dunes with beaches

The AONB is also home to approximately 7000 people who live in creative and dynamic communities. These communities are also popular holiday destinations for those who wish to relax on the island or participate in the wide range of outdoor activities such as walking the 201km (125 miles) coastal path.

Consultation: West of Wales Shoreline Management Plan 2 04/09/2009

The Shoreline Management Plan (SMP) will define the policies for future management of defences of your coastline. We need your input to identify the issues that concern you about the future of your coast.

Consultation - Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Scoping Report 16/01/2009

In line with the SEA Regulations this report is being sent to the statutory consultation bodies: Countryside Council for Wales (CCW), Cadw & the Environment Agency. Additionally it will be made available to the Isle of Anglesey’s AONB Joint Advisory Committee and other key stakeholders that Isle of Anglesey County Council wish to engage with at an early stage.
