Football development on Anglesey

Our football development officer runs a number of programmes throughout the schools on Anglesey, where children are provided with the opportunity to play and learn the techniques of football in a fun and enjoyable environment.

There's also a player development structure in place to support the more talented boys and girls who excel in the schools programmes above.

There is one academy in the county that is linked to the Welsh Premier League club, Llangefni Town. Children then have the opportunity to represent North Wales and progress through to the national squads.

A number of local courses are also ran to support the coach education programme. These courses include:

  • Welsh Football Trust Leaders Award
  • First Aid Award
  • Welfare and Child Protection
  • Goal Keepers Award

National courses run in North Wales also include the:

  • UEFA ‘C’ License
  • UEFA ‘B’ License
  • UEFA ‘A’ License

as well as the ‘C’ license for goal keepers and a treatment of Injury award. All of the courses are accessible to all persons involved in or thinking of getting involved in football, through contacting our Football Development Officer, Gus Williams - for contact details, please follow the link on the left to our "Meet the team" page.

What are the main aims of the football development officer?

  • to increase the number of girls and boys participating at junior level
  • to Improve the standard of girls and boys at junior level
