The 2009 Anglesey sports awards were held at Beaumares leisure centre on the 24 of November.

The awards are designed to recognize and honour the talented sports people, sports clubs, coaches and volunteers on Anglesey.
The awards are in recognition of Anglesey residents in the calendar year of 1 September 2008 to 31 August 2009.

Robbie Jones, captain, player and coach at Menai Bridge Cricket Club and Siwan Mair Jones member of the Islands Games gymnastic team and has been captain for three consecutive years

Winner
Pat Phillimorea top tennis coach and player
Runner up
Merfyn Roberts a member of Gaerwen football club for over ten years
Volunteers of the year
Winners
Ynys Môn Island Games Committee for all their hard volunteered time to organize the Anglesey team ready for the 2009 Island Games.
Runners up
Huw Goronwy Jones,a member of the Royal Anglesey Yacht Club and Alwyn Roberts and Steve Livett athletics coaches that have been members of the national squad.
Young volunteers of the year
Winners
Richard Chera a well respected pupil by both teachers & fellow students at Ysgol Davis Hughes 6th form. He shows outstanding commitment by running three 5x60 basketball sessions, he has also volunteered for the Disability Wales workshops that were run in Maes Glas.
Geoff Atherton Coaches for 5x60 scheme at Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones and Bodedern Secondary School.
Faye Garrod assists with the coaching at the Anglesey Gymnastics Club by preparing lesson plans and offering new ideas and set ups for the gymnasts to achieve more difficult skills.
Recognition of achievement
Winner
Vi de Ville an inspirational yoga teacher who conducts 9 yoga classes a week on the Island – teching pupils from the age of three to the age of 70.
Sportsability award
Winner
Amlwch Town Lions, the team attended the National Disability Football Festival in June at Aberystwyth and came away as Champions.
Runners up
Dot Gallagher has been boosting Sportsabilityby working with Independent Môn and by leading 9 athletes to the Welsh games and Menai Brigde Bowling Club has worked closely with Disability Sports Wales development officer, Karen Williams over the last 12 months to establish new sessions which welcomes individuals with disabilities.
Outstanding achievement in sport
Michael Butterfield has been 4 years representing Wales on the Royal Yachting Association Council and he’s an International judge, international umpire, and an international race officer with International Sailing Federation
