Trading standards

The council's Trading Standards Service serves the local community by promoting a safe and equitable trading environment, encouraging good business practice and protecting consumers.

Traders

We offer advice on all aspects of trading standards, carry out programmed inspections and investigate consumer complaints. Local businesses are welcome to contact us for advice on their legal obligations - please follow the relevant 'see also' link at the bottom of this page for our contact details.

Consumers

We investigate your complaints and offer legal advice to residents and visitors who have bought faulty goods or receive unsatisfactory services. For further information on your rights as a consumer, please follow the 'see also' link at the bottom of this page to our consumer advice section.

Licensing

The Licensing Team is part of our Trading Standards Service, which administers and enforces the licensing of various activities, including:

  • public entertainment, music and dancing
  • private hire and hackney carriage vehicles and drivers
  • poisons and petroleum
  • lotteries
  • street collections

We also give advice to business and residents of Anglesey with regard to licensing matters, carry out visits and inspections to licensed premises and undertake enforcement against unlicensed activities or those in breach of licence conditions.
