Scrutiny committees advise on policy formulation and hold the Commissioners to account in relation to specific matters. They may also review areas of council activity which are not the responsibility of the Commissioners or matters of wider local concern.

There are a number of ways in which you, as a member of the public, can get involved with scrutiny.

Scrutiny Review Panels
Each scrutiny committee has the ability to convene a scrutiny review panel to carry out an in-depth review into an identified subject of significant concern.
Overview and Scrutiny Annual Report
Scrutiny committees must report annually to full Council on their work.
