Summary of service roles

The provision includes the following service areas / centres:

Learning

  • Nursery Education - for children of 3/4 years old
  • Pre-School Unit at Llangefni and Holyhead - for assessing and teaching core skills to young children.
  • Special Schools - Ysgol y Bont, Llangefni which provides education for pupils with moderate and severe learning difficulties
  • Primary Schools - there are 52 primary schools on Anglesey which receive administrative and financial support from the Education Office
  • Secondary Schools - there are 5 secondary schools located at Holyhead, Amlwch, Bodedern, Llangefni and Menai Bridge
  • Pupil Referral Unit for pupils who have behavioural problems
  • Language Centre - there is a language centre at Llangefni and Holyhead which provides intensive teaching in the Welsh language for pupils 7-11 years of age who move into the primary schools from other areas
  • Special Needs Units located in Llandegfan and Holyhead and Moelfre
