Council Services:

Homecare services

What’s happened so far?

In June 2014, the Council’s Executive Committee endorsed the proposal that by April 2017 the provision of home care services would be split, with 70% provided by the independent sector and 30% by the local authority. By now, the Council have reached this goal.

It is now our intention to strengthen the Home Care service by going out to contract on a patch basis to ensure that we have comprehensive provision in all areas of the island.

Our aim is to ensure that a more timely, responsive service will be provided for the people of Anglesey regardless of where they live. There will be more continuity of staff and the new model will focus on an outcome based approach for people. Our current thinking is that there will be a main provider in each area of the island who is able to engage with people at the right time, and agree how care will best enable them to meet their outcomes.

This means that people receiving home care will identify and specify the outcomes to be achieved and needs to be met for example:

Outcome: “I want to be part of my community”

Type of help which could be provided: Home care workers helping you to link in to the local “knit & natter” and art classes. When you have made arrangements to go they ensure their care visits happen at a time that helps you get ready to attend.

This approach is different to the traditional model of home care which has focussed on prescribed activities / tasks.

Tell us what you think about the homecare service you receive

The purpose of this questionnaire is to ask you some questions on the quality of the service and your expectations of the services provided in order to improve the service. All of the feedback will be collated and used as part of the report for recommending a preferred option.
