The Welsh Government considers play to be of great importance

The Welsh Government recently placed a duty on all local authorities in Wales to conduct an assessment of the sufficiency of play opportunities for children in their area.

Anglesey Council, in line with the United Convention on the Rights of Child recognise that children have a right to play, and are committed to developing opportunities for children to play in their communities.

The Play Sufficiency Assessment was submitted to The Welsh Government in March, 2013.

The areas required for the assessment are listed below:

Matter A – Population

Matter B – Providing for diverse needs

Matter C – Spaces available for children to play

Matter D – Supervised provision

Matter E – Charges for play provision

Matter F - Access to space / provision

Matter G – Securing and Developing the Work Force

Matter H - Community engagement and participation

Matter I – Play within relevant policy and implementation agendas
