Vibrant and Viable Places - Holyhead
Vibrant and Viable Places is the Welsh Government’s new urban regeneration framework, which forms the basis for allocating capital funds for regeneration in the period April 2014 - March 2017.
The framework involves targeted capital investment in eleven significant urban settlements in Wales.
All 22 local authorities in Wales were invited to submit outline proposals in July 2013 based on specific detailed criteria. A decision on these was made in September 2013 and eleven bids were shortlisted and invited to submit a more detailed proposal by November 2013, for a final decision in January 2014.
Holyhead VVP Stage 1 Bid
Based on the Welsh Government criteria it was clear that Holyhead was the only realistic bid from Anglesey. An outline bid was therefore prepared in consultation with relevant stakeholders. This bid was successful.
Holyhead Stage 2 Bid
The Welsh Government decided to shortlist the Holyhead Bid and invite a more detailed Stage 2 Bid. The bid preparation was led by the Economic Development Service with support from the NDA and Welsh Government.
The Welsh Government announced on the 31st January 2014 that the bid had been successful and that Holyhead would be eligible to receive their regeneration funding in the period April 2014 to March 2017.
