Council Services:

Project Funding

The total costs of the project are £6,900,000, which consists of funding secured from the following:

  • EU Convergence Programme (ERDF)
  • Welsh Assembly Government’s Department for the Economy and Transport (including the Môn and Menai Programme)
  • Welsh Assembly Government’s Targeted Match Fund
  • IACC Capital Budget

EU Convergence Programme (ERDF)

The west Wales and the Valleys region which includes Anglesey has been awarded the highest level of support known as convergence, from the European Union for the Structural Funds programming round 2007–2013.

The convergence programmes for west Wales and the Valleys comprise funding from two separate European Structural Funds: the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the European Social Fund (ESF).  Around £1 billion of ERDF funds will help progress the region’s transformation into a sustainable and competitive economy by investing in the knowledge economy and helping new and existing businesses to grow.  It will also focus on regenerating Wales’ most deprived communities, tackling climate change and improving transport.

Welsh Assembly Government’s Department for the Economy and Transport (including the Môn a Menai Programme)

The department leads on delivering the economic and transport agenda, with the aim of creating a strong and enterprising economy with full employment based on quality jobs.

Môn a Menai Programme

The Môn a Menai programme is a response by the Welsh Assembly Government and its partners to the closure and decommissioning of Wylfa power station and its effects, harnessing and exploiting the existing strengths and development potential of the area by the adoption of a strategic approach based upon partnership.

The vision of the Programme is to ensure that Môn and Menai will offer those who live in, work in and visit the area:

  • a dynamic economy with a diverse and growing range of innovative businesses
  • a skilled and flexible workforce to meet future economic needs
  • a strong tourism offer, maximising the opportunities offered by the area’s unique cultural and linguistic heritage, and it’s high quality environment presenting a range of opportunities for outdoor pursuits
  • attractive town spaces and public spaces, providing modern facilities for both residents and visitors.

Welsh Assembly Government’s Targeted Match Fund (TMF)

The Welsh Assembly Government established the Targeted Match Fund (TMF) to provide central match funding, as a fund of last resort, to the 2007-13 European Structural Funds Programmes. The TMF provides capital and revenue funding and is available to organisations in all sectors to support eligible activities under the Convergence, Regional Competitiveness and Employment, and Territorial Co-operation Structural Funds Programmes.
