What is DMP on Anglesey?
As part of the Destination Management Plan launched during Anglesey Business Week in September 2011, Anglesey Council and partners such as Tourism Partnership North Wales and Welsh Government’s Visit Wales have linked up with Anglesey Tourism Association and private tourism businesses to create a formal partnership for better communication and collaboration, The Anglesey Destination Partnership.
Tourism in Anglesey has always been important and in these uncertain times a responsive industry that exploits local opportunities and addresses local issues is critical. To help co-ordinate responses, the public sector agencies and the private sector tourism organisations have created a formal partnership for better communication, ‘The Destination Anglesey Partnership’.
The Partnership involves representatives from the main parties involved in tourism, including Isle of Anglesey County Council and the Anglesey Tourism Association (ATA) and Attractions Group.
One of the first actions of the Partnership has been to embark on the process of developing a new Destination Management Plan (DMP) for Anglesey, assisted by our consultants, The Tourism Company. This is an extremely important piece of work which will set the direction for the future development of tourism on the island.
This is not a strategy for the Partnership, the ATA or the Council, but a blueprint for all of us involved with tourism on Anglesey.
